  FEATURED STORY

RAISING MONEY IS FOR THE DOGS
BY ALYSSA STYLES

Some of the girls in the fifth grade class are selling bracelets at Saint Helen's School. Rebecca Nichols is one of the leaders of this new club. When I asked her why she was doing it she responded, "To raise money for the animal shelter." She also commented that it was fun. Rebecca said they sell more crochet bracelets and that her favorite color string to work with is green. They also sell more bracelets than necklaces. They raised more than 48 dollars so far! They have been doing this for a year and a half if you can believe it.

CELEBRATING CHRISTMAS WITH MRS. MICHANIW
BY NATALIE SCHURMAN

Last month everyone in the school participated in a Christmas Concert, the first with our new music teacher Mrs. Michaniw. I hope you liked it! First, Kindergartens A and B sang "The Angel Band." They also swung signs across while they were singing. Plus they sang "Christmas Makes Me Sing." Then came up first grade on stage (They did a wonderful job). There was a girl dressed as Mary and a boy dressed as Joseph. Plus they had a background as Bethlehem, hats that they made, and a baby doll placed as Jesus. But they sang "Come O Ye Faithful." The second grade came next under the spotlight. The two songs they sang were "Noel Nouvelet: and "Jingle Jive" but the song "Noel Nouvelet" was a calm song, and the song "Jingle Jive" was with excitement. As the second grade left the stage three girls named Mia, Treasa, and Aiyana sang "Alleluia." That would now begin the Christmas play.
This play was about a little Christmas tree having a dream of being Santa's tree. But all the other tall six foot trees would think that he was joking. Some of the songs of this play were "Time to go Decorate the Tree," "I'm gonna be Santa's Tree," "March of the Christmas Trees," and "Oh, Christmas Tree."
This concert/play was to celebrate Christmas and to remind us that Christmas is about spending time with your family.
